This morning, the Clayton Public School District JROTC Honor Guard, under the leadership of JROTC instructor Major Michael Smedley, proudly participated in the 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at Clayton Borough Hall. Through their discipline, dignity, and respect, our cadets helped honor the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the families forever affected by September 11, 2001.

The ceremony, led by Mayor Charles Simon, brought together Superintendent Nikolaos Koutsogiannis, the Chief of Police, Clayton police officers, EMS and fire personnel, local officials, and residents.

As we mark 25 years since that tragic day, we are proud of our JROTC Honor Guard for representing our schools and community with honor. Twenty-five years later, we remember and we will never forget.

A message from the Superintendent:

Today, as we mark the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, I join the Clayton Public Schools community in remembering the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives and all those whose lives were forever changed.

Our students and staff will join in a brief moment of remembrance and reflection, honoring those we lost and the extraordinary courage, compassion, and selflessness demonstrated by first responders and countless others.

I invite every member of our school community to carry their legacy forward through unity, service, and kindness, not only today, but every day.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
